the shock of a lifetime

Sean and I were upstairs painting the boys rooms in our new house when we heard a strange noise. It was loud and came from downstairs where the boys were playing. Then we heard Zach scream "that's hot!" over and over. So we went running down stairs and saw Zach standing at the base of the stairs telling us "that sting me" while pointing at an electrical outlet with keys stuck in it. While I was checking out Zach, Sean got the keys out of the outlet. Zach didn't have any marks on him, but the keys were melted. This is proof that Zach has 9 lives!

Homeowners

We're officially homeowners as of last night! We closed escrow and received the keys to our new house. I'm still in shock. Almost one year after we started looking for a house, we have it.

Now the work begins... We met our realtor at the new house to get the keys with a van full of boxes. Last night I shampooed the carpet. There isn't much carpet, so it wasn't too difficult. Sean and Faith took all the outlet and light switch plates off the wall as well as the window coverings to get ready for painting. We tested some colors on the wall to decide which colors to paint. It's difficult trying to find the right shade of brown. We didn't want the walls to look too purple or too orange, so we thought we found the perfect shades of brown. When we tried them out on the wall we thought they looked too much like poop! Guess that happens when you change as many diapers a day as we do!

Another Dusty Day!

Every morning when Josh wakes up he tells us "It's a sunny day." That translates to "It's time to get up." For the past few days we have had a thick marine layer that lasts until early afternoon. Today when Josh looked outside he said "Mom, it's really dusty outside." That made my day! Luckily when the marine layer burns off, we have a beautiful sunny afternoon.

Trash Truck

Going with the theme "Things I Love Thursdays" (thanks LaVonne), I would have to say the Trash Truck. Every Thursday at 9:30am Josh (4yrs) and Zach (2yrs) run to the door screaming "the trash truck is here!" In typical boy fashion, my boys love the big truck, the loud noise, and probably the dirt and smell. We even know the trash man by name. It's Jose. Every time we drive by a trash truck, no matter the city or state, my boys say "mom....there's Jose." They love to follow him up the street and shake his hand (he takes his dirty gloves off and seems to have a clean hand). He even brings them little treats when he goes on vacation to Mexico. This week was a little sad as we are moving and he will be on vacation the last week we're in our house. So, this was the last time they will see Jose. Guess they will just have to get to know the new trash man at the new house. The boys don't understand the whole moving concept, but I do. It makes me sad thinking of all the little things we will miss.

I'm an airhead!

Josh has a week of sharing every couple of months at preschool. We get a monthly newsletter that shows who has sharing each week of the month. The kids have to share something with the letter of the week. This week's letter is Q. When I looked at Josh's newsletter I thought this was his week to share. It took me so long to think of something for him to share. The only word Josh could think of that started with Q was queen, nothing he could share. I thought of quilt, which actually worked perfectly because my Aunt Jonnie made the boys a quilt with a race track. So Josh brought the quilt and several cars to share. The teacher thought it was great as this is one of the worst weeks to get for sharing. We were happy. This is where the airhead part comes in.... Tonight I was writing the dates on the calendar for Josh's Easter party at school and saw that his share week is next week! Good thing it's easy to find "R" things to share!

St. Patty's Day

Last night we had our 3rd annual St. Patty's day party with our neighbors. Sean made the best Corn Beef, potatoes, and cabbage. I loved it. There is only one day a year when we eat Corn Beef and it was at our first St. Patty's day party that I tried Corn Beef for the first time! I also made a two tiered cake to celebrate 3 of our neighbors' (Kurt, Danny, and Joyce's) birthdays, which were all in the past 2 weeks. We had a great time and it makes me sad that we are moving away from such a great neighborhood.

Last night was the first time I ate cabbage while nursing Ben. I have tried to stay away from food that might cause gas or upset his stomach. We didn't notice it having an effect on Ben until this morning in church. All of our kids went to their class,and Ben went to the nursery. As soon as we sat down in church Ben's number started flashing on the screen. Sean went to the nursery to get him and brought him back to me. The teacher said that Ben pooped,but we soon realized that Ben didn't poop, he just had very loud and stinky gas! I brought him back to the nursery and explained to them that I ate cabbage last night and that it was just gas. We all had a good laugh! And now I know, no more cabbage!

Another Tiny Baby

This week Been had his 2 month check up. And just like his siblings before him, he is tiny! He weighed 9 lbs exactly, which puts him in the 5th percentile. He may be tiny, but he is such a good eater. He gained 2lbs since his last doctor's appointment, 5 weeks ago, which his doctor said was great. He also received his first vaccinations. We refused them in the hospital because he had already been through so much. And we have decided to space them out a little bit. Six vaccinations at a 2 month check-up is a lot for a little guy. There is so much information out there on vaccinations and we have learned a great deal from my brother Tyler and his wife LaVonne who have decided not to vaccinate their daughter at this time and from our pediatrician. We'll get Ben vaccinated from everything, we're just doing it at a slower rate. And does he really need to get a vaccination from an STD at 2 months!? So, Ben is another healthy boy for the Kabo Family! Praise God!

1st Blog

This is my first blog on this site, hence the title! I thought I would do this as I have family and friends blogging and I love reading what they have to say. With so many family members and friends living so far away, I though this would be the perfect way to let them know what we have been up to daily, weekly, or whenever I have the time to blog.

I titled this blog "Kabo, Party of 6" for two reasons. First, the obvious, every time we go to a restaurant (which is rare these days) we are now a party of 6! Yikes, that's a big family!! And second, it's always a party of 6 at our house. I will probably be blogging most of the time, but Faith will chime in every so often. She always has quite a bit to say and I think it'll be good for her to write it.
